The World’s Largest Truck Convoy® is an international project of the Law Enforcement Torch Run working in conjunction with members of the trucking industry & Manitoba Trucking Association in order to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Manitoba. The seventh annual Manitoba World’s Largest Truck Convoy is on September 6th at Oak Bluff Recreation Centre starting at 11 a.m.

Since its inception in 2001, the World’s Largest Truck Convoy® has become a one-day celebration of the trucking industry to help raise money for Special Olympics and has raised over $4 million dollars in Canada and the U.S. Last year, the Manitoba convoy raised $55,000 and had the second most trucks in all the events across the continent, with a total of 171 trucks in the convoy traveling counterclockwise around the Perimeter Highway (Hwy#101).

Once the convoy has completed its run, the participants will be welcomed at the Oak Bluff Recreation Centre by Special Olympics Manitoba athletes, family, friends and law enforcement personnel for lunch and a presentation.

In Manitoba alone there are over 20,000 individuals living with an intellectual disability. Special Olympics Manitoba is here to support these individuals by offering sport opportunities to assist with their physical and mental developments. It has been proven that participation in sport will assist these individuals in providing life-long skills that build their self-esteem and self confidence, learn to compete, travel the world, improve their physical fitness, and discover their potential through sport.
