WINNIPEG, MB ‘“ September 3, 2014 ‘“ Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) awards scholarships to employees or dependents of its members.
Each year the MTA presents $10,000 in academic and apprenticeship scholarships with funds raised from its two annual golf tournaments.
The presentations took place last week at the Round Table Restaurant in Winnipeg, MB with a total of nine scholarships presented to students by MTA board and committee members.
Three of the scholarships awarded were based on academics and four were presented to apprentices who are currently employed by an MTA member company in the transport truck technician and transport trailer technician apprenticeship programs.
Academic winners included: Julie DePauw (L&J Bulk Milk Transport), Adrianna Racano (Marsh Canada Ltd) and Edmund-Sean Viagedor ( Gardewine Group).
Winning in the apprenticeship program were: Kerry Bezemer (Paul’s Hauling) Level 1 transport truck technician, Christian Lewis (Bison Transport) Level 1 transport trailer technician, Jesse Reinsch (Penner Oil) Level 2 transport truck technician, and Coleman Regula (Ocean Trailer) Level 2 transport technician.
Also presented today was the Edward M Ewanochko award to Edmund-Sean Viagedor (Gardewine Group) presented by Darren Christle, Executive Director, Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation. As well as the Winnipeg Transportation Scholarship award was given to Lucas Bock (SLH Transport) and presented by Gary Arnold, MTA Vice President.
