WINNIPEG, April 15, 2025 – Members of the Manitoba Trucking Association gathered for their 93rd Annual General Meeting on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg. Announced at the event was an initiative to raise funds for The Joy Smith Foundation for an educational campaign related to labour trafficking in the trucking industry.
Elected to the Manitoba Trucking Association’s (MTA’s) Board of Directors for the 2025-2026 term are:

Agenda items included greetings from The Honourable Lisa Naylor (Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure) on behalf of the Province of Manitoba, and Councillor Janice Lukes, who brought greetings from the City of Winnipeg. RBC Capital Markets and The Joy Smith Foundation also presented.
In her address to MTA members, MTA President Wiebe Peters noted the challenges currently faced by the industry, including lack of rest areas, interprovincial trade barriers, and labour trafficking and immigration abuse in the industry. As a sign of the MTA’s dedication to eliminating labour trafficking and immigration abuse on Manitoba’s trucking industry, Wiebe Peters announced an initial donation of $25,000 to The Joy Smith Foundation for an educational campaign designed to raise awareness of the problem in the trucking industry. She also announced that the MTA will match donations from MTA member companies, up to an additional $25,000 to be used for the campaign. This campaign will study not only the impact of labour trafficking in the trucking industry, but also includes an educational campaign designed to raise awareness of labour trafficking in the industry.
Immediately following the MTA’s Annual General Meeting was the MTA Board of Directors’ meeting. Nominated to the Executive Committee are President Pauline Wiebe Peters, 1st Vice President Brent Arnold, 2nd Vice President Ryan Mitchell, and Members at Large Trent Siemens, Peter McDonald, and Rachelle Baker. Past President Jason Dubois and MTA Executive Director Aaron Dolyniuk round out the Executive Committee for the 2025/2026 term.
