The mandate of the Manitoba Trucking Association is to serve the needs of the Trucking Industry and its interested parties through promoting a healthy business environment and advocating for safety, education, and responsibility. Through this mandate the Manitoba Trucking Association provides many tangible and intangible benefits to its members. The MTA is recognized as the Voice of Trucking in Manitoba. Our association, in conjunction with other provincial trucking associations and the Canadian Trucking Alliance, has and will continue to promote our industry, and to lobby governments at all levels on matters that affect our industry. We act as a liaison between our member companies and government departments. The MTA is a resource to our members by answering their questions, providing them with information or identifying additional sources of information to them on any issues related to trucking.
There will continue to be issues confronting our industry at the civic, provincial, national and international levels, and the Manitoba Trucking Association will continue to address them. The Manitoba Trucking Association maintains and continues its efforts through the financial support of its members.
Have a say in the direction the industry is going
The Manitoba Trucking Association is, first and foremost, a lobby organization. We work hard to ensure that a safe and healthy business environment is being developed and maintained for our industry members.
Our members determine the direction of our lobbying efforts. We lobbied for and won improved operational efficiencies for long combination vehicles in the West and an expanded LCV network. We also saw our infrastructure priorities recognized by the provincial government as their priorities, as well.
Why wouldn’t you want to have a say in the direction of our industry? Join the MTA for an opportunity to experience industry involvement on a whole new level.
Membership in the MTA also brings a variety of tangible benefits, including:
One of the advantages of membership in the MTA is that you no longer have to go searching for information; we ensure that the information comes to YOU. If regulations are changing, or even if there is discussion about pending regulatory changes, MTA members are the first ones to find out. To ensure that your members are up-to-date on everything that is going on in our industry, we have three levels of communications:
- email distribution lists are used on a number of specialized topics, from bulk and heavy haul to finance. Our members can sign up for these distribution lists, and something happens that our members need to immediately know about, we contact those members on these specialized lists to ensure that the information is going to the correct person.
- weekly eBulletins allow us to keep our members informed in a timely fashion of what’s happening in our industry. These eBulletins usually have a variety of news items in them, as well as a listing of upcoming MTA events and courses.
- monthly MTA newsletter. Our newsletter has three purposes: one, if you missed an eBulletin, it is likely to be found in our newsletter, so nothing falls through the cracks. Two, our newsletter format allows us to delve into more detail on a variety of topics. And three, it is a tool we use to communicate with our members so they know what their association has been doing over the past month. Board updates, program updates, and committee news are all features of our newsletter, a great way to know what YOUR association is doing!
All members also receive a copy of the Western Canada Highway News magazine, the official magazine of the the trucking associations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. The magazine is published quarterly and provides leading edge, timely information on business practices, technology, trends, new products/services, legal and legislative issues that affect professionals in Western Canada’s trucking industry. MTA supplier members are listed in the annual Buyers Guide.
