MTA Kicks off National Trucking Week with Truck Pull for United Way

WINNIPEG, MB ‘“ Friday September 5, 2014 ‘“ Twelve teams from  Manitoba’s trucking Industry will come together today at 5 pm at Polo Park Shopping Centre’s Mall Parking lot just outside of Sears for the Manitoba Trucking Associations (MTA)  Annual truck Pull for United Way.

Sysco Food Services, Big Freight Systems Inc., Payne Transportation LP, Dr. Hook Towing Services Ltd, Bison Transport Inc., Maxim Truck and Trailer, Cummins Western Canada., TransX Group of Companies, Freightliner MB, Investors Group, Ryder Truck Rentals and Beaver Truck Centre have all put in a team and will be fighting for the title of 1st place.

‘œWhat better way to kick off National Trucking Week (September 7-12) then by demonstrating Manitoba’s Trucking Industry’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate. ‘œ says Laura La Palme, Marketing & Business Development for the  MTA.

The Truck Pull is now in its 5th year and defending champions from last year, Dr. Hook Towing who came in with a time of 13.8 seconds will be competing against some old and new faces today.  To participate, each team paid a $500 registration fee, with 100% of the proceeds going to the United Way.  Each team in the truck pull consists of ten people with at least three team members being women.
