The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) has announced its 2026–2027 Board of Directors and Executive following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and April Board of Directors meeting held on Friday, April 17, reinforcing its commitment to strong governance and industry leadership.

The newly appointed Executive includes MTA President Brent Arnold (Arnold Bros. Transport Ltd.), 1st Vice-Chair Ryan Mitchell (Wildwood Transport Inc.), 2nd Vice-Chair Trent Siemens (Steve’s Livestock Transport Ltd.) , and Executive Members-At-Large Peter McDonald (TransX Group of Companies), Rachelle Baker (Penner International Inc.),  and Steve Zokvic (Bison Transport), as well as Past President Pauline Wiebe Peters (Payne Transportation Ltd.).

Advocacy remained a central focus for the MTA throughout 2025. The Association participated in national consultations and engaged extensively with government to address key priorities, including regulatory harmonization, safety enforcement, and labour market integrity. Continued action on Driver Inc. and employee misclassification, supported by enhanced enforcement and federal policy changes, underscored the importance of a level playing field within the industry.

The MTA also advanced professionalism through training and compliance initiatives. The New Entrant Training (NET) program demonstrated measurable success for new carriers, contributing to improved safety outcomes across the sector. Meanwhile, expanded course offerings and ongoing partnerships strengthened the industry’s capacity to develop skilled, knowledgeable operators.

Member engagement remained strong, with high participation in industry events, training programs, and community initiatives. These efforts reflect a sector committed not only to operational excellence but also to social responsibility and public trust.

As the industry looks ahead, the MTA emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing emerging challenges, including economic uncertainty, regulatory complexity, and environmental transition.
