Excellent Showing by Team Manitoba at National Truck Driving Championship

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. ‘“ Saturday September 21, 2013 ‘“ Team Manitoba took home several trophies from the 2013 National Professional Truck Driving Championship held the weekend of September 20-21.

The National Truck Driving Championships is a skills competition for  professional truck drivers hosted each year by a different province.  The competition allows drivers the opportunity to showcase the skills, courtesy, knowledge, safety and professionalism that distinguishes them as worthy ambassadors for our industry. Competing were provincial champions from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

The Manitoba Trucking Association congratulates the following drivers; Ronald Poirier (TST Overland Express) for winning first place in single tandem, Ken Wiebe (EBD Enterprises Ltd) for his first place showing in Super B trains, and Howard McAfee (H & T Transport) for placing third in tandem tandem. To top off their excellent showing, Jason Novak from Canadian Freightways won the safety award, and Team Manitoba was presented with the top team award.

Team manager Darcy Olson (Canada Safeway) says. ‘œI am so proud of this team,”. ‘œTo have some of the best drivers in Canada representing Team Manitoba is an honour. I would also like to thank this year’s national event organizers in BC for doing such a great job”
